www.radiosurvivor.com/2009/09/28/how-to-avoid-breaking-the-fccs-ridiculously-lenient-rules-against-non-commercial-radio-advertising/The mere mention of $$$ in the Stupf File is the kicker. Don't get me wrong it's a great program. If he could re-word about donations we could carry him. Excerpt: "So welcome to the wonderful world of “enhanced underwriting.” You don’t need to be a Supreme Court lawyer to see that you can run all the ads you like on your “public” radio station, just skip prices, exhortations, and specific inducements, and you’re cool. Of course, the question of what makes your signal substantially different from the commercial station three notches to your left or right is another question. That’s up to you to ponder on Sunday. "

I Am a Consultant
Why can't I call myself a consultant? I've worked in non-commercial radio for 10-years and commercial radio even longer than that.
As I recall a non-commercial station can only do a fund drive or seek donations FOR ITSELF ALONE. Not allowed to raise money for other not-for profits.
It was for that reason that our non-comm could not do a fund raiser for the local orchestra. They got help from a commercial station that donated time as "a public service".
