There is some useful data here for those who may need an "ice breaker." www.arrl.org/files/file/Technology/tis/info/pdf/9511087.pdfRemember: More troubleshooting problems have been solved by a combination of a VOM and a brain. You must use your brain to analyze the data obtained by the test equipment you have on-hand.

Management of Ailing Equipment
The "troubleshooting" guidelines linked by Druid Hills Radio is important reading for all radio station owners, even those with little electronics experience. Whether a station does their own maintenance or deals with it in some other way, there will always be equipment problems sooner or later.
In past years there were commercial repair shops of several kinds, but with the increase in "throw-away technology" it has become more commonplace to simply discard and replace troublesome devices.
Here at KDX Worldround Radio we are twice lucky because our acting lord, Carl Blare, brings a technical background from having worked in recording and broadcasting for enough years to gain useful skills... the second lucky factor being an actual technical repair business almost within walking distance.
What does your station do when components go out of service?

I do all of my own work, I want to be as much a part of my station and its electrons as possible. The path to satisfaction is at the component level.
I'll cheat at times and get something pre-built, but I take responsibility for the setup, tweaking and repairs it may need afterwards.
