Several years ago I posted about this transmitting novelty over at www.part15.us/forum/part15-forums/those-miniscule-budget
Below is a copy and paste.. But below that is something even cooler..

Came across this while looking for something else...
TEMPEST: ALL YOU NEED TO BE A PART 15 AM BROADCASTER
•No Transmitter required.
•No Antenna Required.
•No Mixer Required.
•No Soundcard Required.
This isn't a joke.. Well, actually it is kind of is, but it's for real nevertheless... "Tempest is a Program that uses your computer monitor to send out AM radio signals. You can then hear computer generated music in your radio."
Utilizes "Hidden Data Transmission Using Electromagnetic Emanations"

The above actually works with the old type monitors. I had searched that old post out because what I came across today reminded me about it.. Only this next program is better and more interesting, only it doesn't seem to work with my Surface tablet, perhaps it will work with yours.. Below is an edited down copy and paste description, you can read it in it's entirety by scrolling down a little at github.com/fulldecent/system-bus-radio
System Bus Radio
This program transmits radio on computers / phones without radio transmitting hardware.
This is documented in the TEMPEST guidelines published by the US National Security Agency and the US Department of Defense. This project simply adds to that...

Tune [radio] to 1580 kHz on AM.
You should hear the "Mary Had a Little Lamb" tune playing repeatedly. Other equipment and tuning may work as well. The author has achieved clear transmission over two meters of open air or one meter through drywall. Different results will be achievable with different equipment.
