ALPB Transmitter TheaterExclusive showing for ALPB Members this classic transmitter is checked out for modern service. The stirring march is from old Germany and was played during Parades of the Third Reich, making it very fitting music for today's Nationalist Movement here in the Homeland. Thanks for that video Carl, that's great, 250 watts on 1490 khz, a graveyard channel. That might have been a day, and then night transmitter for some station, when graveyards had to power down to 250 watts at night. It was a point about 30 years ago when all AM graveyard broadcasters were allowed a blanket power increase to 1000 watts at night.
Those were the glory days of broadcasting on local AM, with large transmitters. For some perspective, higher tech has made them so small, that 250 watts can fit in a 2 rack unit case, and run on 120 volts.
