The Final Idea Just Came To Me
For several years KDX Worldround Radio has been thinking about building an outdoor tower for AM1680 using an AMT5000 Transmitter. Only one thing was known at the start... it would be built using bamboo poles.
The bamboo forest located at the campus of the Internet Building, home of KDX, provides a never-ending supply of poles that grow above 35-feet in height.
Finally today the full concept has come into the mind as we can finally visualize every piece of the puzzle.
The actual antenna will be a copper pipe.
Ground-breaking is already taking place.
This thread will follow the progress complete with photos.
A formal announcement will be made at tonight's ALPB meeting.

Tower Progress
It was amazing today synchronizing as we did with nature's tempo. In mid-morning we filled a yard-waste-bag and just as we topped it off rain began to fall so we hiked it indoors to piddle with the radio station.
In early afternoon things cleared a bit so we trimmed the hedges along the public walkway and again, just as we finished the task, it began to pour rather darkly.
Indoor lighting is being used as we approach 2:30 in the afternoon.
Oh, and we toured the tower site and extended the path back there that had become overgrown, with plans to utilize large green tarps to smother out the vines and ground cover so as to expose the construction area for tower and radials.
The first long-distance transmission cables between the Internet Building and the tower will be above ground on some kind of little "telephone poles" made from bamboo stalks.
Once that system is working we will begin to add redundant pathways using wireless technology.
If Rump doesn't blow up the world it could get to be fun.
