People Who Know It All May Not Know It All
These part 15 websites are fortunate to have several teachers proficient in the physics and science of RF (radio frequency) technology and willing to share their knowledge with the hobbyists and entrepreneurs with their micro-transmitters and antennas hoping to connect with listeners out in the distance.
There are times when some of the learned "professors" express frustration that the hobbyists insist on pursuing "more range" and persist in believing there's a trick or loophole that will produce a better result. At these times the instructors often scold and warn that "the rules are the rules" and "the laws of physics cannot change". When this occurs it's of course annoying to the unschooled who are in it for the fun.
What the scholars ignore is the realm of fantasy that plays an equal part in the radio hobby, and is an essential element in the sales appeal of the part 15 transmitters and studio equipment.
If the pessimism of physical reality were applied like a straitjacket the hobby would fall into decline and there'd be no market for part 15 gear.
Albert Einstein understood completely when he said "Imagination is more important than knowledge".
And I myself hold two minds... knowing the limits while believing that inexplicable exceptions might take place... perhaps the ice or certain star alignments could put our signal on some DXers radio in a far off neighborhood... or a new discovery might give us a six-inch full wave AM antenna opening a whole new "law" for the physics books.
So gentlemen of the academy, let's not be dull.

Thank you Carol that was a very interesting commentary. It is one reason why our spokesperson and our experimenter in the new radio Revolution is attempting to try and do just that make a decent AM antenna and then we might have a chance to actually use our transmitters for what we want to use them for and that is range.
With the new antenna and it's experimentation being discussed on the open section of our new radio Revolution website we do hope that it will open doors. We are not dead we are trying to figure out other ways that we can have fun with this Hobby even if FM doesn't work in most areas. Again our group is not totally giving up on AM I think it's something that we need to experiment with in further detail.

Lots of truth in what you just stated... I'm so glad that more people are starting to have the Same view about this subject. It's why as kids we experimented with Ways to make better antennas for these AM transmitters. Maybe we might find a work around.

Thank you Carol that was a very interesting commentary. DHR asked: "Carol? Who's Carol?"

That would be Carol Blarenet.. arr! arr!.. I agree that was an great post.
.. the realm of fantasy that plays an equal part in the radio hobby..
Actually hadn't forgot that, nor forgotten the disappointment experienced when the reality shined through. Ignorance is bliss. But support of clearly blatant impossibilities of that found within the rules is something else. Perhaps I'm a little incorrect considering ALPB forum a part 15 site, I mean there's actually nothing saying that, it was only assumption on my part, all this site really refers to is 'low power broadcasters', which of course is really a different thing. So I guess I stand corrected on some of my objections in this forum concerning talk about the methods of such FM broadcast.

Part 15 +
You are not wrong End80... The ALPB Forums are Part 15 in the sense that we acknowledge the regulations as apply to one's country... but the ALPB is International in Membership! Part 15 only applies in one country.
My essays of criticism use the rules as a foundation upon which I build my thoughts and opinions, reminding the readers that we are not prison-slaves in a tyranny, the FCC and the government are responsible for answering to we citizens and it is literally a duty we have to review and rate the job they do!
Some of the people who post on these part 15 sites seem to lack basic civics education and act like enforcement police to command strict obedience to THEIR dogmatic interpretation of the rules, and such people are fair game to ridicule. As a satirist and rule critic it is my calling to stir things up once in awhile.
Others have posted secret behind-the-back complaints about me but without knowing who they are or what exactly they object to I have no idea what might be improved. Some of them are merely carrying out the directions of a particular gamesman, but this can never be fairly examined so long as their identities are hidden.
It's delightful that so few milliWatts can bring out the sinister side of some people.

My take on this Forum is that it is for legal, low power broadcasters. Doesn't necessarily have to be Part 15, but should be legal in whatever country/jurisdiction you happen to reside.
Then again, given that the ALPB's mission statement has recently changed, I could be wrong.

Carl I've tried to get folks to join my fight for More Power and a separate service for Hobby Broadcasting since June 5th 2015. Since the start we now have a mere 4 possibly a new 5th active fighter. A few days ago our newest member got scolded for his views as to why more and more Pirates exist and why he goes over the limit. Seeing how this can start Ill feelings and eventually retaliation I had to post a retraction asking him to stop as well as an announcement that the mention of New Radio Revolution on these sites where as folks care little about changing things should stop and only be discussed in the Elite section of our site.
I assume the ALPB may have a better view on this? However the fact our participation is low is not a good sign. I'm glad you are fighting too now.

Carl I've tried to get folks to join my fight for More Power and a separate service for Hobby Broadcasting.. ... Seeing how this can start Ill feelings and eventually retaliation I had to post a retraction asking him to stop.. ..mention of New Radio Revolution on these sites where as folks care little about changing things .. However the fact our participation is low is not a good sign. I'm glad you are fighting too now. I've actually mentioned at least a couple times in the past year or so that petition for a separate service would be a more plausible and reasonable direction to pursue, and it's not a matter of "folks [who] care little about changing things" .. it's a matter of more power for part 15 is by definition a self-defeating cause to it's purpose, thus an unreasonable idea.
A separate service as you now suggest is a reasonable idea, however if it were to ever happen it would certainly eliminate the basic free-reign we have within the confines of part 15. A new separate service would naturally involve licensing, a certain degree of control over what you can play, and maybe what hours you can operate, reports, paperwork, fees, etc... Of course not to the degree of the big stations, but still, it could never be a cake and eat it too type situation.
With part 15 your severely range limited, but with a .219 route there is at least fair potential , and is 'a cake and eat it too' position - You don't have to answer to no one, broadcast whenever you want, play whatever you want to air, don't have to ask any permissions about anything at all, no paperwork, no payments (except perhaps for music royalties), no mandatory set hours, no nothing at all.. With a separate broadcast service you lose all that.
I have no objections about a new such service, I only object to operating presently as if such a service already exist, and discussing the operations in the midst of part 15 group as if such operation methods were a part of it, as if it were legit. It can pollute the waters.
I don't care what you do, I really don't. I'd be the last person in the world to object, to each his own.

Part 15 +CB said: "It's delightful that so few milliWatts can bring out the sinister side of some people."DHR commented: "Without sinister there can be no Resident Hobby Agents." Am I too being considered a "resident hobby agent"? I don't consider myself such. I just think it inappropriate to discuss pirate operations in a positive manner while within a legal based discussion group.
Perhaps it is I who is blind to the point. Maybe my opinion of this matter is not as valid or appropriate to express as I thought.

Continue As Before
TheLegacy said: "I'm glad you are fighting too now."
Carl responds: If I'm fighting it's because I feel we've been unfairly foughten.
But nothing's really changed...
Do the part 15 rules exist in some Biblically Holy Way that places them above criticism? Nod your head no.
Should Hobby Radio exist in a category of its own? Nod your head yes.
Are there acres of unused RF spectrum that could be made useful by creative radio artists? Hell ya!
Should Hobby Radio be subject to paperwork and genuflection? Why would End80 think that! Something's wrong in Georgia.
America started about to be a land of free thought. When did that stop?
It's fortunate that human beings can't make it to other planets.

Continue As BeforeT.. Should Hobby Radio be subject to paperwork and genuflection? Why would End80 think that! Something's wrong in Georgia. Uh.. not quite what I said. What I meant was that if a new option was created by the FCC which provided greater than part 15 but lesser than LP, to more easily cater to creating a community station (ie: longer antenna system and/or a little more power), then that would be great.. But the FCC would surely not just simply create such as an unlicensed option, there would certainly be licensing requirements involved for such operations.
Part 15, as you know, is not and never was intended for range, but they slipped up with .219 because it does in the real world more than what it was supposed to be capable of - and they almost put the hammer down in 1974, but fortunate for us never actually followed through with a re-write,, digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc306575/m1/688/
