If you have your own radio station you have a studio, low budget, professional, it doesn't matter. But how do you do it??
This is my way: PC Pentium II, Win 98 Sec release, 256 M RAM, 80 G HD, Creative AWE64 soundcard, Zara v1.4.4, SqrSoft DSP plug in, 12500 mp3's. Inkel MX991 audio mixer, Behringer MDX 4600 Comp/Lim, Teac EQA-20 10 bands equalizer and the last part ofcourse a home made TX.

Although I would love to have the time to do "Live" radio my station is full automation.
I have been tinkering with Part 15 radio for over 50 years. My current station has been on the air for over 15 years. Its purpose was to feature local artists recorded at our home studio, Miles Robert Audio.
Since then I have added syndicated talk shows and other Indie music in addition to news and weather.
My station is very simple: A PC running Windows XP using ZaraRadio 1.4.4 automation software. I Webcast my programming using ShoutCast streaming software. To sweeten the sound I use the SoundSolution plug-in, a multiband compressor/limiter. The PC output feeds a Tascam GA-30 10 band stereo equalizer followed by a DBX-118 compressor/expander to level things out.
Automation also takes care of updating news and weather content so its always current.

My station is always branching into new avenues. Here is where we are now and where we are going next...
Two Part 15 AM stations are running based on 15.219, and outdoor antennas are being built for both.
A carrier current AM station is operational but stalled in the test phase while I learn more about the fcc requirements.
FM 107.1, a signal sending audio to two of the AM transmitters, recently got nudged off its frequency by the start of a new 250W FM translator at 107.3, but I found another frequency and all is well.
Shortwave 13.560 is all spread out on the workbench to be fit into a metal cabinet and an end-fed outdoor antenna built.
A long wave transmitter exists on paper and most of the parts are ready to construct, but I'm not sure how to achieve a 50-foot vertical antenna.
A 49mHz FM transmitter is planned to take over the STL (studio-transmitter-link) function so I can say goodby to the crowded FM band.
But all of a sudden I'm wondering about HD radio and wi-fi radio. Does anyone have an HD radio and what kind of programming can you find?
The thing that scares me about wi-fi radio is the idea of encountering tens of thousands of radio stations. I'm already one of them, since I forgot to mention that I stream at two different bit-rates.
What else is there?
