On the Rock N Roll Show I have been using a nasty little mic to get started. However new stuff is on the Way. Will post pics if its good sounding. We shall see.
Also our Part 15 station will go back on the Air soon I hope.

The good news is, due to broadcasting on line there are many good microphones available now. In that case, it might be hard to choose a good mic!
I keep my Part-15 rolling, even if I don't have time to program, with a simple mp3 player that can hold up to a few weeks of programming. Now I'm using a mini laptop.

On the Rock N Roll Show I have been using a nasty little mic to get started. Found one of our RE-320 at the thrift store for $25, so don't rule our offbeat places to acquire gear!

Well my $46.00 dollar Blue Snowball mic is pretty good over all. Its a little thin but I can fix that with EQ .
For 46 dollars you can't really go wrong with this mic. I just bought a Spit filter for it .
I think the Lefty Gomez Rock show sounds a bit better with this mic.

The Blue Snowball, I remember that as a mic recommended in podcasting awhile ago.
Maybe it's 'thin' sounding because it has a flat response for clear voice. Maybe you could get closer to it and have some proximity effect.
I know that rock and roll DJs like to have a little more oomph is the bass region!
The studio mic I've been using is a generic dynamic mic from a recording kit called Making The Hit by Perlman sound studios, the mic, cable and CDs with recording software like Cakewalk, intended for people to record their own songs at home.
They were at Microcenter for $1.99 closeout! I also have the standard Shure, but for consistency in the studio, the mics are both Making The Hit.

I bought a FiFine brand mic with a volume control for $29. Its a USB mic and if careful and I don't put it too close its a good sounding mic. You have to put it a litle closer than others and adjust your volume through the computer to about 77 but after that it sounds good.
The mic does not sound really thin so its a great low budget mic.

I like the Making The Hit mic, not suggesting anyone can find one of these now or should look for them, but the idea is it's cardiod pattern, dynamic, and damped well enough to not pick up much noise through the body, rumble through the desk stand, for example. The shape is like a vocal mic, so it goes into any clip.
I have a standard foam head on it, with mic sensitivity at low on the mixer. It's for close talking, get a foot away and you can barely hear anything, that goes for room echo, dropping items or noises from outside.
That's a change from when I used to broadcast with higher gain mics with compression on them. I was below the kitchen, and could hear footsteps and the clamoring of dishes from above. Noise gates keep the low levels from cranking up during pauses too. It's really nice what equipment and features we can get at decent prices, thanks to technology improvements and people wanting to broadcast on line.

My go-to mic, for broadcasting, is a Heil PR40, which I've used in the studio for at least the last 9 years.
