The Rock Show
Founding member of The ALPB, Joe "Lefty Gomez", has returned to radio.
As some know, Joe was an air personality at a popular Californian AM station. His show ran several years and had a big fan base.
Short story; the station was bought out by a large group and the station format changed. Joe's "rock" show didn't fit the religious based organization's programming.
Undaunted, Joe worked to keep his show coming to that fan base by moving the show to an internet radio station. That's when he discovered license free, low power broadcasting; Free Radio!
Joe saw the potential of this localized media outlet and realized the need to market it to the local public. To do this, his idea was to put together a group of these license free, low power broadcasters, to work with them and develop a radio group the public wants. This would be an alternative to the news/talk/religious/automated formats most commercial AM stations have adopted.
Joe started The Association of Low Power Broadcasters (The ALPB.) Not long after, family obligations pulled Joe away, but now, after adjusting to retirement, he has returned.
Before taking a hiatus from radio and The ALPB, Joe was producing a rock show for an Ohio based LPFM (WCFI-LP 96.1.) His show runs 3 times daily. When his obligations pulled him away, the show continued to run from the archive he had produced.
Joe plans to produce shows again and has said they will be available to any license free, low power station for the asking. The above link is the first new show.
He has joined our Micro-Broadcasters Forum and can be reached through here.
