It would be fun to see him actually fall of his chair. I didn't know Paul Orndoff (former WWE wrestler) did part 15 radio....LOL!!

The days of Hulk Hogan
Aw man, I totally missed that Huskeyman! I even had that WWE cassette and played songs from it on my station at the time, with my friend who was into WWF, bodybuilding and heavy metal.

Legacy said: "Next you would do the SsTran 5000 and so on. Each time every transmitter would be set up in the exact same location. This is how you make a comparison but you have to make sure that you read the manuals of each transmitter and set them up in the way that they recommend having them set up."
For each transmitter there may be variations in the manuals as to each ones set up for optimum results so the set up can't be equal for each one going by that. For best results in a head to head test is a certain set up in the EXACT same location for each one. Then go the same distance away exactly in different directions with a field strength meter and see the results but there still may be variables. The weather is different each day and the ground may be dry and then it rains so then it won't be an equal test for each. Temperature will have an effect on the circuit performance also if you want to get that technical. It takes several days to do this....one day it's 90 and another day it's 68. The same transmitter could be a little different with that temperature difference.

I think it's possible to do more informal, or more scientific tests, and have them be accurate enough. My idea is, if you have the resources, the time and some transmitters, then go for a scientific test, but otherwise you can do fairly well with listening tests and two transmitters to compare.
I've tested two commercially made transmitters, 3 if you count the Wild Planet DJ, which is a toy, with a toy range of one room to the next.
I use a transmitter for a while, work to peak it up, and go for walking tests with mine, and make notes. Over time I can tell when one transmitter is better than another.
Another thing to think about is if the difference is big enough to matter, if you have a choice, then go for a little better, but I wouldn't fight about it.
I think some of range worry is from the promotional efforts of transmitter companies, they've locked on to what potential users are thinking about and some are advertising to that. It's something to consider.
