I swear I replied to this but maybe not or maybe on the other forum?
Anyway, I have 27 stations carrying the show and no one else has had an issue, but then again they may all be downloading it.
I just listened to the show stream from my show link on my computers here at home, and at work. That would equal 3 different Apple Macs of varying vintages and OS's.
I also listened all the way through at work on three different PC's (so different ISP, different operating systems, etc).
I also listened to it streaming on my iPhone through the data connection AND wifi, each time with no issues.
Now, one thing I am not is a computer and/or internet expert. So I can't even try to guess what the issue for you might be. But it would seem to be something with your "stuff"
be it a computer, connection, software or who knows what else. I couldn't even begin to speculate.
Now, I'm not opposed to using Dropbox, and in fact used it quite regularly to share files between my office and studio and home, and my office at the "real" station where I work every day.
Except that a couple months ago Dropbox did an update which was no longer compatible with my home computers. I need to simply "update my browser" to use Dropbox.
What they don't know is people like me are FAR behind the times. I use all Macs at home. The one I am typing this on is a 12 year old iMac. The one running my station is an even
older iMac. The Oompah Hour is recorded live directly into a rack mount stand along digital recorder that I then upload to my isp with one of these Macs. To "update my browser" I need to
update my OS. To update my OS to a current one that will use a current browser I need to update my COMPUTERS. which, besides being expensive would then make a lot of software I use
obsolete, many of which can't be replaced -- some of which can't be replaced because the services it provides are no longer legal in the USA, hence the software has never been updated
for the latest systems.
So -- to use Dropbox I'd have to download the show at work then upload it from a work computer to a newly opened Dropbox account. What are the odds I'd remember to do that? Plus the
show wouldn't get uploaded until Monday morning at best.
So, that's my story. Wish I had more useful information for you!
