No Longer a Rumor
Stories of carrier current during the wartime freeze on wireless amateur radio have never been more than anecdotes and rumor in my experience, UNTIL TODAY!
Many thanks to you Mister Hills for bringing the full story to us here within the fortified walls of the ALPB!

That is a foundation document that I believe has informed more recent use of carrier current on the medium waves.
Ernie Wilson of Panaxis Productions referred to it in his book, 'Carrier Current Techniques', and I've seen several other documents, including LPB's reports on carrier current talk about it, especially mentioning the 50 watt top power level that a station can reasonably use.
I like how the hams are instructed to put large RF chokes in series with their power lines coming into the house! That wouldn't go as well today, with the high-amp power draw of most houses.
Still, they were right, for transmitting purposes, because you want the RF signal to go back out along the lines and not back up in your home's wiring where it's wasted and grounded out by your own appliances, and your own lights and TVs going on and off would affect the transmitter's matching to the line.
