Today I received a .webm audio file, but Zara does not play .webm, so I must convert it to either .ogg or .mp3, but Audacity will not convert .webm files nor will it load them at all.
If somebody knows the secret I would like to know.
Thanks!

Try this....https://audio.online-convert.com/convert-to-mp3 And this...https://www.media.io/ And this...http://www.freemake.com/free_audio_converter/ But you have an odd format there.

Lickypedia"WebM is an audiovisual media file format. It is primarily intended to offer a royalty-free alternative to use in the HTML5 video and the HTML5 audio tags. It has a sister project WebP for images. The development of the format is sponsored by Google, and the corresponding software is distributed under a BSD license. The WebM container is based on a profile of Matroska. WebM initially supported VP8 video and Vorbis audio streams. In 2013 it was updated to accommodate VP9 video and Opus audio. " Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebMwebmproject.org/webmproject.org/about/I think I played with it last year, in tests for a good format to embed on web pages, as with other containers like .ogg and .opus. I was trying several formats at the time, and VLC player could convert all of them back to wav or other formats. I'm not as familiar with Zara, but could it use external codecs for playback? If so, you might be able to add WebM's decoder to your system, such as WebM's DLL or ACM system codec, and Zara could pick it up. Hope it helps, along with OldiesWMRK's info. Boomer

Great Education in WebM
My thanks to Mark and Boomer for the info about the webm format.
At the beginning I should have explained that I have a webm VIDEO, am stripping off the audio and trying to convert it to either ogg or mp3.
Today I will try all the suggestions and let you know how it went.

Boomer says: "Could Zara use external codecs for playback?"
Johny C. our New Zealand member will know the answer.
According to Johny, Zara utilizes Windows Media Player (WMP) to generate its audio, therefore our question becomes: can WMP use external codecs?

Don't Let Carl Speak to the Public
The ocean creature called an Octopus has a defense mechanism... when it feels threatened it releases a black fluid in to the water concealing it from being seen by predators.
As for me I think I am about to pour a bottle of black ink into the clear water thus confusing this whole discussion about WebM and audio conversion.
This morning I found a perfect Ogg copy of the WebM file that I thought I'd failed to convert yesterday. So it seems like I had successfully converted the file and didn't realize it.
But I'm still floating around in a pool of fog because I have no idea which of my actions resulted in the conversion!
I guess I'll sign up for grade school and start all over again.
