Windows 7 Slow, Slower, Slowest
The only two things I run on this HP8300 with Windows 7 is Firefox and TightVNC which networks on the LAN with the XP computer, but if I run Firefox for two days it starts to slow down, following which it slows down more, and more. It acts like it's under a mudslide.
There is 8 GB of RAM in this bastard, so why should it DO THIS TO ME!?
The foregoing was not an ad hominem attack because a dumb stupid computer is not a homonid.

Leaky coax and leaky memory
Thanks for using Firefox, the animal browser that has origins in Netscape, then Mozilla. I trust it the most out of the major browsers, less info on your use going to Big Tech, especially compared to GoogApple.
Mine slows down that way, it takes weeks, but then some sites start to crawl, and I have at least 8 Gigs RAM. Ebay is the worst site to use when Firefox is slow here, very sluggish. It seemed to be worse when I had Flash in the browser, which I didn't install this time. One thing I did then was go to Task Manager and kill a process called plugin_container.exe, and that would speed up Firefox without closing it.
Now when I need a refresh and have tabs I want to keep, I close Firefox and open it again, then go to the History menu and press 'Restore previous session', and all the tabs come back, unloaded until you go to them. Sometimes I actually restart, and it will still get all tabs back.

I use Firefox and it's fast with no problems on my end and I like the lay out better than other browsers. It keeps updating periodically when I turn it on but it's quick and not much of an inconvenience.

Do you close it when you are done every time? Do you regularly delete your browsing cache and history? That may help. Talking About Sludgy Browsing
Jim Henry offers possible fixes: "Do you close it when you are done every time? Do you regularly delete your browsing cache and history? That may help."
Guilty on all counts. I open the browser and keep it open day and night and sometimes overnight.
When things get extra slow I run CCleaner and that speeds things up, so I see what you mean.
