Hello. This Part 15 FM Laboratory has its start over on part15(dot)us: part15.us/forum/part15-forums/transmitter-talk/carls-fm-laboratoryMid-way through the Canadian BETS Phase of the Testing, we were pestered by an enforcement stickler asking questions about our "authority" to transmit at Canadian signal levels within the U.S., so we've moved the project to the more receptive haven here on ALPB premises. Coming Up is the drive portion of the test... a reception report driving away from the transmitter site using the car FM radio.

Yes I agree. Sort of why I went off on a rant over there. I'm anxious to see what your test will be like. Is there any way you can video or at least audio record the testing I'd like to hear the reception and how far your Transmitter does go before it drops off.

Hi there, I finally made it to this forum I'm anxious, too. My math was worked out for unobstructed line-of-sight. I'd like to see real-world tests with 1000uV.

Temporary Suspension
The road test at Canadian field level is off for now as a security precaution. Anti-part 15 agents on two websites have been actively tracking and reporting on both our movement to improve 15.239 and these comparative signal tests between 15.239 and Canadian BETS.
Exhibit A:
From Part15(dot)us Examples of Negative and Semi-Threatening Comments RE: Improvement of FCC Part 15.239 and U.S. vs. Canadian Field Tests
7/7/15 16:59 Rich -- Just Wondering
All day I am enjoying running KDX-FM at the higher Canadian power level because we are still in test mode.
While such an operation may be enjoyable to its operator, what FCC provision allows unlicensed FM setups subject to FCC jurisdiction to exceed the limits given in §15.239, in any mode of operation?
7/7/15 17:49 Rich -- Define "Miniscule," please
Clicking-heels to exhibit obedience. KDX-FM shutting down! We are obedient to even the most miniscule rules ...
But apparently (and sadly), not until the FCC Rules are referred to in a public forum.
BTW and other things equal, it takes an ERP increase of 16X to increase the maximum free-space field intensity permitted by FCC §15.239 by only 4X, which then just meets the Canadian standard.
Does that 16X power increase equate with an acceptable definition of "most miniscule?"
From Hobby Broadcaster 7/9/15 7:15 AM Bill DeFelice -- Why All the Bother with FM
I'd like to see what they say when they perform such activity and get a visit from a field agent.
End Exhibit A.
Based on such hateful scrutiny, we have dropped anchor and canceled the trip.

People post their illegal setups on Youtube. I don't understand the fear.

I knew an anti FM Troll would end the testing. Damn I knew when you admitted you were going to do an experiment like that we'd get an anti FM troll working for the FCC. Happens all the time on the Light O Rama forums. Anytime anyone posts anything to do with the SainSonic AX-05B, MobileBlackBox (which has variable power) or anything that hobby broadcaster doesn't like its time to preach and then members of Light O Rama mention a visit shortly after the threat from an Anti FM troll. So if you do the test it would have to be talked about Privately and only on our secure teamspeak server. Or simply get someone else to do the test in a country like Canada or New Zealand and make these accusers look stupid running their little mouth to their FCC agent. Oh well the NAB will only hurt themselves because instead of certified clean harmonic free transmitters that do a quarter mile you'll have junk transmitters spewing out harmonics. Good going FM Trolls. what they don't realize is that a REAL pirate is not going to mess with a transmitter under a watt. Their looking at 10 Watt plus and that is the difference.
Just get someone in Canada to flip their transmitter set to Beats after their range test at Beats to the USA level and do a test at our level in Canada. Then little Rich the damn narc can't do sh&t. Sorry I'm getting P*ssed off now.

The other individuals didn't end the test, rather Carl has decided to end the test to avoid any conflicts.
But, the idea to have our Canadian and New Zealand ALPB members perform the tests is the perfect solution as the stated power levels are permissible in those areas.
We can as they say have our cake and eat it too!
